Savana Signatures Hosts World Teachers

A group of Dutch and Finnish students, teachers and education professionals have begun a 2-weeklong educational exchange programmed in some selected schools in the Ho and Hohoe Municipalities in the Volta Region.

The participating teachers, students and education professionals will learn and contribute to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the host schools.

The exchange programme dubbed the “World Teachers Programme” (WTP) is organized by Savana Signatures, an ICT for Development (ICT4D) non-for-profit organization (NGO) based in Ghana and Edukans International, an International Organisation specialised in Quality Education.

The WTP participants numbering 62 will observe and co-facilitate classroom activities and share ideas and experiences with their Ghanaian counterparts on Active Teaching and Learning practices to improve on the quality of education.

“The WTP participants will within their period of stay, support Ghanaian teachers to develop teaching and learning aids with local materials”, said, Richard Bonny, the Education Officer of Savana Signatures.

Mr. Bonny said, the WTP also offers an opportunity to teachers and students from The Netherlands and Finland and their Ghanaian counterparts to learn and share experiences on best teaching practices and cultural, social, economic and political systems of the participants countries.

Savana Signatures over the years has been working closely with officials of Ghana Education Service (GES) in Northern and Volta Regions to help improve the quality of teaching and learning outcomes. Savana Signatures has an Education portfolio that includes the Integration of ICT in Education Project (IIEP), iMatter Project and the Going Global Programme.

“Savana signatures in partnership with Edukans is supporting the improvement of quality teaching and learning outcomes in Ghanaian schools, he said.

In all, 10 schools are benefiting from the WTP. These include: Lume Atsyame Basic School, Tokokoe RC Primary, Takla MA JHS, Regional Model school and Sokode Gboame JHS “A” in the Ho Municipality and Lolobi Ashiambi JHS, Likpe Mate EP JHS, Fodome Woe Primary School, Adabraka English Islamic Primary School and Bethel Methodist Primary school in the Hohoe Municipality.
