Young People In Charge

Young People In Charge (YPIC) is a 2-year project coordinated by Savana Signatures with ACDEP as an implementing partner and New Dawn as a technical partner with funding support from Aidsfons, Edukans, Cordaid, and Aflatoun International.

The project presents an innovative integration of proven interventions in youth HIV, STIs and Teenage pregnancy prevention and youth economic empowerment. This is done through the integration of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Social and Financial Education with access to Youth Friendly Services. The project builds a strong collaboration between the Health, Education and Economic Empowerment sectors through Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Financial institutions in Ghana.

The approach integrates the Aflatoun curriculum with Savana Signatures’ World Starts With Me (WSWM) and My World My Life (MWML) curriculum which is designed for Junior High and Primary schools respectively.

The project’s aim is to contribute to young people (10-24 years) in Northern Ghana (Northern and Upper West Regions of Ghana) living a healthy and productive life, ultimately leading to reduced new HIV and STI infections and teenage pregnancies.

Savana Signatures is piloting this project in 13 Health centres and 24 project schools in eight (8) districts namely, East Mamprusi, Sawla Tuna Kalba, Sagnarigu, Mion, Tolon, Central Gonja Districts, Savelugu Municipal, and Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region of Ghana.
