Savana Signatures

Monthly ICT4D Series

Background

As an Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) organisation, Savana Signatures recognises the growing role of technology in shaping social development, service delivery, and community engagement. However, the rapid advancement of digital technologies also presents emerging challenges related to online safety, digital inclusion, mental wellbeing, and the ethical use of technology.

To strengthen the capacity of staff, partners, institutions, and communities to use technology responsibly and effectively for social impact, Savana Signatures launched the ICT4D Series, a structured learning platform implemented from February to May. The initiative was designed to promote inclusive development outcomes by creating spaces for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and practical learning around key digital and technology-related issues affecting individuals and communities.

Strategy

Savana Signatures adopted a monthly forum model under the ICT4D Series, organising thematic learning sessions every month. Each forum focuses on a critical and emerging issue within the digital and development space, allowing participants to engage deeply with specific topics while building progressive knowledge throughout each series.

The ICT4D forums utilizes a participatory and capacity-building approach that combined expert-led discussions, applied demonstrations, and interactive learning sessions. This approach enabled participants to strengthen their digital competencies, explore innovative solutions, and better understand the social implications of technology across sectors such as health, climate resilience, livelihoods, and safeguarding.

The initiative intentionally targeted a diverse audience, including institutions, young people, community members, PWDs, students and women entrepreneurs among others to encourage cross-sector learning and broaden the impact of digital literacy and responsible technology use.

Key Highlights

The ICT4D Series successfully organised special forums featuring Fellows from Youth Challenge International, Canada who came to Ghana for their fellowship program between February and May 2026 creating important spaces for learning on technology and social development.

Key thematic areas covered included Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence, Mental Health and Technology.

These forums also promoted conversations around online safety, mental wellbeing in the digital age, and the use of innovative digital solutions to support climate adaptation and sustainable livelihoods

Savana Signatures is commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive development by engaging a broad range of stakeholders, where the ICT4D initiative strengthened knowledge exchange, encouraged responsible digital participation, and protected.
