Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
As an NGO, Savana Signatures offers the possibility to participate in projects through which you will gain valuable experience in the area of development.
What makes us different from other volunteering possibilities?
As an organization, we believe that projects are more sustainable when local beneficiaries are trained to lead projects themselves, instead of by temporary volunteers. You will thus not be working in a small-scale project as is often the case in volunteering projects, but rather work from within the NGO. You, therefore, get to see how an NGO works from the inside out. You work alongside other employees instead of other volunteers and gain skills that are directly relevant for a future career within an NGO. We also expect you to have an active role in sharing your skills and knowledge with our local staff, thereby promoting the capacity building of our staff. As an organization, we believe in the mutual exchange of skills and knowledge and the benefits this brings for both individuals and the organization as a whole.
Projects
An overview of the different projects you can participate in can be found below.
There are two project locations, with the main office being in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region and the second office being at Ho, the capital of the Volta Region. Please note that it is possible to select activities from different projects and create a programme that fits your individual interests and skills best. In this case, clearly outline in your motivation letter which activities from which projects you have selected. It is also important to mention that the required backgrounds that are mentioned are an indication. If you feel that you are skilled enough to execute the activities mentioned in the project description, you can indicate this in your motivation letter and we will surely consider it.
Assistance
We will arrange your accommodation for you and your pick up from the airport. During your preparation, we will be in contact through both email and Skype to answer any questions you might have and to help you prepare for your trip. After arrival, you will receive a short orientation about the ins and outs, do’s and dont’s of the local life, including a tour through the city. During your stay, you will receive guidance from a volunteer consultant, who will check up on your wellbeing regularly and is always available for questions or support. You will also receive feedback on your performance, to get the most out of your experience.
