Enabling access to quality comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights education and services is crucial for reducing sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and maternal mortality rates, particularly in underserved rural communities where such resources are scarce. For 15 years, Savana Signatures has been at the forefront of promoting SRHR and enhancing the health and well-being of women and young people in Ghana, especially in the hard-to-reach areas.
Using gender-sensitive and rights-based approach, we leverage simple but innovative tools to improve access to comprehensive SRHR information and services. Through strategic collaborations with stakeholders, we work to ensure that women and young people have access to youth friendly SRHR services and maternal and child health care. Our efforts aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
Also in many Ghanaian communities, socio-cultural norms and gender inequalities are hindering access to reproductive health services, and discussions about sexual and reproductive health are often taboo, particularly for young people who need it the most. Savana Signatures tackles these challenges by providing adaptable SRHR sensitive content through various media formats. Our campaigns, supported by evidence and case studies, are amplified through partnerships with opinion leaders, civil society organisations, and the media. By collectively addressing negative socio-cultural practices such as early marriages and gender-based violence, we strive to create an environment where women and young people can freely exercise their sexual and reproductive health rights.
