Savana Signatures is a Ghanaian For-Impact NGO and leader in the innovative use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to design and deliver inclusive, scalable social interventions in the areas of Inclusive Quality Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Livelihood and Economic Development. We specialise in the designing and execution of Community Development interventions, focusing on meaningful Youth Participation. Savana Signatures seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Finance and Operations Director for an upcoming Ghana Youth Activity. The Activity will be aimed at improving the socioeconomic status of the youth in northern Ghana.
Responsibilities will include monitoring of projects finances, preparing project budgets, managing financial reporting to funder, ensuring adherence to funder rules and regulations, coordinating with Savana Signatures head office on financial information, providing financial technical assistance to project teams, by acting as a resource for project staff on finance-related issues.
This position will be based in Tamale, Ghana.
Availability of position is contingent upon funding and approval of key personnel.
- Provide support to the COP in day-to-day program management.
- Establish financial and operational systems during start-up.
- Supervise Finance and Operations team.
- Ensure all activities related to financial management are carried out in conformance with policies and procedures established by Savana Signatures and the funder.
- Oversee all payments and track all costs incurred under the award.
- Monitor program budget and advise senior management on burn rates and other programmatic considerations.
- Maintain financial records for all program activities and ensure that appropriate financial record-keeping policies and practices are established and maintained.
- Overseeing subgrantee budgets and expenditures
- Oversee all office expenditures and staff transportation/vehicles; lead human resource management;
- Oversees and ensures compliant pre-award audit of sub awardees.
- Oversee and ensure quality financial operations throughout the project.
- Oversee the management and reporting of cost share and ensure that Savana Signatures achieves the results of which it is responsible for under the donor agreement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- MBA/MS or a related advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial management and administration, preferably in a multi-partner context.
- Demonstrated experience in managing donor funds.
- Strong working knowledge of USAID financial management policies, procedures and practices.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with an accounting system and high-degree of competency in MS Excel and other accounting packages.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision and managing teams.
- Excellent communication skills in English required and proficiency in another language an added advantage.
