Fundraising and Partnerships Manager
Purpose

The Fundraising and Partnerships Manager is responsible for managing Savana Signatures’ business development activities, significantly contributing to the development of new programme partnerships and funding opportunities.

(S)He is expected to develop and implement fundraising strategies including new partnership and funder liaison and establishing and managing relationships, both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Fundraising Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that incorporates diverse income streams, including grants, consultancy services, and other alternative revenue sources.
    • Monitor funding trends and opportunities to adapt and refine strategies.
  2. Proposal Development and Grant Acquisition
    • Identify, evaluate, and pursue funding opportunities aligned with the organization’s goals.
    • Prepare and submit compelling funding applications, complete with costed project budgets, ensuring alignment with donor criteria.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor standards for proposals and bids.
  3. Donor and Partner Engagement
    • Cultivate and manage relationships with existing donors to secure long-term support.
    • Conduct outreach to potential funders and partners, initiating and leading discussions on new funding opportunities.
    • Represent the organization in business development efforts, networking events, and donor meetings to enhance visibility and reputation.
  4. Business Development
    • Maintain and update a database of funders, consultants, and partners to support business development efforts.
    • Provide strategic insights and guidance for competitive bid decisions and resource approvals.
    • Lead the management of prime and sub-bids for donor-funded opportunities, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely submission.
  5. Partnership Building
    • Identify and establish relationships with prospective collaborators for funding bids and joint initiatives.
    • Develop and support partnership agreements to maximize mutual benefits and organizational impact.
  6. Monitoring and Reporting
    • Track and report progress against fundraising targets to the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board.
    • Provide monitoring and evaluation reports for key grants and contracts as required.
  7. Strategic Representation
    • Promote the organization’s mission and programs to donors, partners, and stakeholders to build its reputation and expand its network.
    • Share intelligence on industry trends and provide recommendations for organizational positioning.
Required Experience
  1. Educational Background
    • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Business Development, or a related field.
  2. Professional Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising management experience with a proven track record of driving growth.
    • Demonstrable knowledge of the NGO environment in Ghana
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in non-profit organization development, international development, or a related field, with at least 3 years specifically in business development.
    • Demonstrated expertise in proposal development and positioning for diverse donors, including U.S. Government (e.g., USAID), European donors, private foundations, and corporations.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, particularly in guiding proposal teams and overseeing the business development process from strategy formulation to compliance and delivery.
  3. Donor Knowledge
    • Comprehensive understanding of donor rules, regulations, and processes, with experience managing collaborations involving technical and operational staff and external partners.
  4. Technical Skills
    • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
    • Proficiency in negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  5. Language and Travel
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally when appropriate and safe.
