Partnerships and Business Development Manager
Overall Purpose

The Partnerships and Business Development Manager is responsible for managing Savana Signatures’ business development activities, significantly contributing to the development of new programme partnerships and funding opportunities.

(S)He is expected to develop and implement fundraising strategies including new partnership and funder liaison and establishing and managing relationships, both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

Business development
In liaison with appropriate senior staff/teams:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of an overall fundraising strategy and plan which includes a diverse range of funding streams.
  • Investigate and contribute to strategic decisions in relation to developing alternate income streams (consultancy, etc.).
  • Identify and track funding prospects as they arise and maintain the appropriate tracking tools.
  • Design and maintain Savana Signatures’ database of potential funders, consultants and partners for business development.
  • Strategize for and conduct discussions with potential donors and partners on new business opportunities.
  • Represent Savana Signatures in business development efforts, including with donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Network and share information on Savana Signatures, to build our organizational reputation and brand.
  • Provide guidance and support in business intelligence gathering and developing and implementing positioning plans.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for bid decisions.
  • Acquire approval of needed resources to pursue bids.
  • Manage prime and sub bids for USAID and other donor opportunities from positioning through active proposal development.
  • Ensure proposal quality and compliance with Savana Signatures and donor requirements.
  • Draft and/or review proposal sections as relevant.
  • Develop and support new and current partnership engagements including identifying and building relationships with prospective collaborative partners on bids.
  • Develop and manage positive and constructive relationships with potential funders and internal and external stakeholders, including meeting stakeholders and funders on own or with programme staff.
  • Report to Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board on progress against fundraising targets.
Required Experience
  • Master’s degree in international development or a related field.
  • A combination of experience will be considered: minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in non-profit organization development, international development, or related field, with a minimum of three years directly in business development.
  • Strong experience in positioning and proposal development for a wide range of donors including US Government (e.g., USAID), as well as for European donors, private foundations, and corporations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills across the business development continuum from trend analysis and strategy development through proposal development, production, compliance, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor rules, regulations, and processes, and demonstrated experience leading positioning and proposal teams of technical and operations staff, as well as external partners.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to multitask with ease, adapting to frequently changing priorities.
  • English language fluency required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally when deemed appropriate and safe.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Ghana.
