Teaching With Impact (TWI)
Duration: 2020 - 2021
Background
Globally, 250 million children, including many of the most vulnerable, are not learning basic literacy, writing and numeracy skills eventhough half have attended school for at least four years. As a consequence of lack of opportunity and quality of practising through meaningful exercises, children are not learning basic knowledge and skills in schools in developing countries, including Ghana.
Teaching with Impact (TWI) is a project by Edukans and Savana Signatures to influence the learning environment of 81 basic schools to become safer and responsive for learners to experience improved learning outcomes. Teachers will be more capable and effective in delivering lessons in learner-centered and inclusive manner, using innovative, reusable writing material called the Correctbooks.
The Objectives
- To reiterate the use of Active Teaching and Learning methodology in the classroom to improve learning outcome.
- To improve Literacy, numeracy and handwriting skills among learners
- To improve learners engagement using the innovative, reusable writing materials
Our theory of change is hinged on the principle that;
- If the capacity of teachers is professionally developed in teaching Literacy, Numeracy and Handwriting;
- If teachers have an improved capacity in active teaching and learning methodologies;
- If learners are being guided so well by teachers to use correct book writing materials in class at the basic level;
Then
- Basic school learners will have improved skills and learning outcomes, reduced dropout
rate, and higher retention and transition.
